Wood Burning vs. Gas

Wood-burning fireplaces are what most people picture — logs, real fire, real smoke, real ambiance. They don't need a gas line, which makes them simpler to install in most backyards. They do need a properly sized flue and a spark arrestor, and you'll want good hardwood to burn. If you like the ritual of building a fire and the smell that goes with it, this is the right call.

Gas fireplaces are cleaner and more convenient — flip a switch and you have fire. They require running a gas line to the fireplace location, which adds cost, but eliminates ash cleanup and smoke management. If you want something you'll actually use on a Tuesday night without a lot of setup, gas often makes more practical sense. We can help you figure out which is right for your situation.
